Client success stories: Joy

“Today I sent my kids out in their PE kit, and it was school photo day”. These were the words of our now client Joy*, when she met Sue on an explore call recently.

Quite often, someone has been thinking about making contact with us long before our first conversation. They may have sent a quick note to us with some questions, or say they’ll be in touch after some big events are out of the way.

And then, for that same person, there’s a catalytic ‘I-can’t go-on-like-this-anymore’ moment triggering them to book an explore call.

On this occasion, Joy booked herself straight into Sue’s calendar, right after receiving a call from the school.

“I had a call this morning from Miss Bates to let me know Ellie and Joe were going to have their photos taken in their PE kit, unless there was time for me to bring some uniform in to school for them.”

She’d simply missed the line in the weekly school email with the date, and it hadn’t made it into her calendar.

“I was on the train, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. I kept thinking how silly the kids would be feeling. And I just don’t have the bandwidth to juggle all of this, with everything going on at work right now.”

It hadn’t been the first time something like this had happened recently and Joy was starting to feel frustrated with herself for letting her children down. “I continuously feel a failure. I’m really good at what I do - I should be able to do better than this.”

And this didn’t just go for school photo day.

Almost every event in Joy’s family life involved details to plan and organise: passport renewals in time for a holiday; a gift to take to a cousin’s engagement party; assembling the new bunk beds arriving next week; hiring a car for the family weekend away; working out how to set up the kids’ new devices so they’re safe; making sure their food allergies are taken care of at a birthday lunch. It never stops.

Wind forward a few weeks and now Joy has the talented CiD team standing by to catch anything that looks as though it could turn into a Mum-fail. As well as all of the organising distracting Joy during the day, CiD are also set up to receive the school emails, comb them for relevant dates and events, and plug the details into an online calendar shared with Joy, set with reminders ahead of time.

CiD will make sure Joy is ready for the next school photo day - haircuts and blazer dry cleaning will be arranged, and we’ll even order prints of the photos afterwards.

With so much from her plate lifted, Joy is now able to plan further ahead to the possibility of their moving house to a bigger place (something CiD can also support her with) – thanks to an upcoming promotion. She’s been able to stress less, focus more, and showcase her talent at work.

Problem: Joy was overwhelmed with the amount of home-life organising she was having to do. There were Mum-fails all over and a sense of chaos disrupted her day continually.

Solution: by signing with CiD, she now has a amazing team of people only a WhatsApp away who can pick up short or long term projects for her.

Outcome: With her home-life mental load lifted, Joy feels like a new Mum. She is less stressed and has more control in her life. “Having CiD by my side has been nothing short of life-changing” she said a few weeks later.
